AvP Test Servers Are Up!

We're happy to let you all know that we are now testing the beta software for running Aliens Vs Predator Dedicated Servers on our systems. We are assessing the functionality and resource usage prior to deciding if the software is good enough to offer to host the game for our customers. If you wish to help us test the servers please feel free to join any of them. The details for them can be found below.

Please bear in mind that these servers are online for test purposes and as such may go online/offline at any time during this testing phase.

AvP Patch Updates coming on 1st March

More information was posted today on the Steam forums by DaPing from Rebellion. Here's what he had to say:-

"We've been hard at work listening to and addressing your concerns and are pleased to announce that Monday will see the release of an update to Aliens vs Predator, see below for detail on what will be included.

We will also have news on an additional feature we know many of you have been waiting for which is now ready for a closed Beta test!

Please remember and check the revised Readme file when the update becomes available for additional information on the following.

General
- Stability improvements to address rare and infrequent hangs
- Implemented a workaround for missing audio issues with certain hardware (SoundBlaster X-Fi, Realtek onboard, etc.)
- Fixed save games being lost or corrupted if connection to Steam is lost or if user switches to offline play

Multiplayer
- Fixed XP being incorrectly affected by offline play (though only in the local stats; this will be corrected next time you connect to multiplayer)
- Fixed other players sometimes appearing to have the wrong weapon or continuing to fire indefinitely after dying
- Fixed rare issue where players would be temporarily invisible
- Fixed some selection of servers and players in menus sometimes being incorrect"

We at Extreme Game Servers are betting that the "additional feature" that is being referred to is news about the Beta Dedicated Server files we've all been waiting for. Keep your eyes peeled for more information as soon as we can find it. With a bit of luck we will soon be able to offer AvP Dedicated Servers for our customers.

Aliens Vs Predator Dedicated Servers

With the imminent release of The new Aliens Vs Predator game upon us Rebellion had this to say on the Steam forums

"Rebellion are busy preparing the dedicated server for the Aliens vs.
Predator community. We hope to have a beta release with reduced
functionality out in the next few days and further updates to improve
functionality and fix bugs over the next few weeks. The files will be available to download from the “Tools” tab in the Steam client and will be a free download".

Extreme Game Servers was hoping to be able to offer Aliens Vs Predator dedicated servers right from the first day of the games release but yet again we are prevented from doing so by the simple fact that game developers seem to think it's ok to delay offering what we think is the PC's strongest gaming feature.

Needless to say that as soon as Rebellion get their finger out and get the promised "Beta" server files out in the community we will offer AvP. However it will all depend on what their statement about "reduced functionality" means. We are not prepared to offer a substandard service to our customers and as such will only offer dedicated servers for AvP if they offer what our customers need.

If Rebellion do what they promised and get Dedicated Server files out there, be sure to check back here for our special offers on AvP servers. News will be posted as soon as we get any more information!!

Teamspeak 3 Servers Now Available!

We've now finished our testing period for the new Teamspeak 3 Beta software and have ironed out the initial teething problems that always occur when using new beta release software. We are happy to announce that from now on all our game server packages come complete with Teamspeak 3 Beta servers as standard. Any customers who wish to use Teamspeak 2 instead can of course request this change.

Finishing our internal testing phase also means that we can now offer standlone Teamspeak 3 Beta servers while continuing to offer Teamspeak 2 standlone servers for all those customers who don't wish to upgrade to the newer software.

We have also decided to keep the price of our Teamspeak 3 servers the same as our Teamspeak 2 ones for a limited time, so now has never been a better time to get your own voice server from as little as £2 per month.

Go ahead, buy your new server today. We know you wont regret it.
